Ama Dablam is Calling
Ama Dablam(6,812m) is a majestic pyramid-shaped mountain in Nepal which is located in the south Khumbu valley. It is the mountain in the eastern Himalayan Range of Nepal. The ridges on both sides of the peak portrays as if a mother is (Ama) protecting her child and the hanging glacier, portrays her wearing a religious pendant (Dablam). The first ascent of Ama Dablam was done by American climber Barry Bishop in 1961 via the southeast ridge and then many climbers often climbed Ama Dablam during the fall season. It is one of the most beautiful peaks in the world. Climbing mount Ama Dablam is an experience you’ll never forget.

This expedition, we shall start with a short scenic flight from Kathmandu to Lukla and then trek through the heartland of the Sherpa village. Needless to say, before arriving at the Ama Dablam base camp the team shall have already ascented Island peak 6,189m to assist acclimatization. And then afterward, two days rest or acclimatize day shall be there during the trek.
Above Ama Dablam Base Camp
From Ama Dablam base camp, two camps are set up before the final summit bid. In total, it will take about two weeks from base camp to ascend and descend the summit .Throughout the climbing period, our guides and climbing Sherpa will always be with you for the support and will ferry expedition equipment and set up camp to the mountain.
The climb from Base Camp to Camp I is not technical, but above Camp I, climber must use the appropriate climbing equipment and fixed ropes while climbing. Due to the mixed rock and ice ridge, climbing Ama Dablam becomes more technical, and so the participants require the experience of rock and ice climbing with excellent physical fitness. The summit of Ama Dablam offers technical climbing experience along with the stunning view of the world highest mountains, including Everest 8,848m, Lhotse 8,516, Makalu 8,463m, Cho Oyu 8,201m and more peaks in Nepal.
When is the best time to climb Mount Ama Dablam? How many succeed?
The best time to climb Mount Dablam is to climb during October, November and December. During this season more than hundreds of mountaineers reach the summit of Ama Dablam. With lots of clear skies, prior experience, it gives climbers the best opportunity to summit Ama Dablam.
In the past 2016-2019, the success rate of Amadablam summiting has doubled.
Is Ama Dabalm crowded?
Absolutely, the South East Ridge of Ama Dablam is more crowded during the autumn season but climbing routes are more technical.
