Langtang Trek

Traverse the ‘Valley of Glaciers’ and explore ethnic Tamang heritage on the Langtang Trek. Langtang Trek is an easily accessible trekking option with the trek’s trail-head located a few hours from Kathmandu. This marvelous adventure takes you to the home of Tamang and ancient Tibetan communities in the shadows of Langtang Lirung (7227m). Moreover, the fascinating biodiversity of the Langtang National Park and historical significance of Kyanjin Gompa adds more excitement to the trek.

Langtang Himal range and the trails to the south of these Himalayas are home to grand trekking adventures. Some of the notable mountains like Langtang Lirung (7227m) and Langtang Ri (6596m) shelter these trails and the heritage of Tamang and Tibetan communities. Similarly, the Langtang National Park and the glaciers across this natural reserve are also the highlights of this Langtang Valley Trek.

The trek starts from Syabrubensi, which is located a few hours north of Kathmandu. Following the Langtang River from here, you go past Lama Hotel and continue to Langtang Village. As the views of the Langtang Himal range join you on the trek, you reach Kyanjin Gompa. Here, you can explore the local village or scale Tserko Ri (4984m). The top of the peak offers a surreal vista of the Langtang and Dorje Lakpa ranges. Then, you return to Syabrubensi and head back to Kathmandu.

Langtang trek is one of the easier trekking ventures in Nepal, it can be done by trekkers with good physical fitness. On average, you might have to walk for 5-6 hours except on the day you climb Tserko Ri. On this day, you might have to walk for 8-9 hours. Also, this moderately difficult trek does not necessarily require a previous trekking experience. During the autumn (September to November) and spring (March to May) seasons bring out the best of the Langtang Valley.
